An Indian American community group led by Dr. Thomas
Abraham, Sailesh Naik, Ashok Nichani and Varghese Ninan raised funds for NJ
Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula for a his congressional run at a fundraiser
dinner held at the Hampton Inn and suites in Stamford, CT on March 27th.
Speaking at the event, Chivukula said he is running a
positive campaign and that he has a good shot at the Democratic Primary
for the seat vacated Congressman Rush Holt. Chivukula, who is the Deputy
Speaker of the New Jersey Assembly, said he would need over a million
dollars before June 3rd Democratic Primary and appealed to the
community to provide generous contributions as well as volunteer their time.
Over $5,000 was raised at the fundraiser.
